Adobe Acrobat Reader Adobe® Acrobat® Reader is free software that allows users to view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files on all major computer platforms. Nellie Mae private and federal applications are stored as PDF files on this web site. To view and download blank applications, users must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Application* A program or group of programs designed for end users.
Browser* Short for web browser, a software application used to locate and display web pages.
Cookie Browsers are able to store information in special files called cookies. These files often retain the preferences, name, address, and password entered while on a web site. Browser applications give the user control over whether to accept, accept with a warning, or decline cookies. This is done through an Options or Preferences screen within a browser application. (Refer to Quick Tips—Enabling Cookies.)
Download* To copy data from a main source to a peripheral device. The term is often used to describe the process of copying a file from an online service or bulletin board service (BBS) to one's own computer. Downloading can also refer to copying a file from a network file server to a computer on the network.
Internet* A global network connecting millions of computers.
Javascript* A web site language used to create interactive web site designs.
Web site* A site (location) on the World Wide Web. Each Web site contains a home page, which is the first document users see when they enter the site. The site might also contain additional documents and files. Each site is owned and managed by an individual, company or organization.
